This survey is for the tandem-geeks out there who love to compare stats with other tandem teams to see how they stack-up in terms of experience, riding habits, physical characteristics, and involvement in tandem activities. Don't be intimidated or put off by the questions that appear to assume you've kept a detailed riders log or have a passion for math. If you have kept track of the data and want to run the numbers go for it. If you haven't, use your best guess based on what you thought you did. Since this is an anonymous survey there's no need to be overly generous or conservative; it will only skew the data and make it less meaningless than it would otherwise be. Note: Question #4 was mis-worded and as written asks what percentage of the miles you accumulated on a tandem in 2003 were ridden on an off-road tandem. What the question was really intended to ask was what percentage of the miles you accumulated on a tandem in 2003 were ridden on off-road trails, i.e., mountain biking on unimproved trails, fire roads, double and single track. The 2004 Tandem Ownership Survey: Want to see just what types and brands of tandems your fellow Internet-based, Tandem Discussion List Members own and ride? You can see a summary of the results from this year's ownership survey by clicking HERE. Dirk Bettge's Fall of 2000 Tandem Survey: For those who are interested in knowing even more about tandem team habits and norms, Dirk Bettge's conducted a rather extensive survey of tandem owners in the Fall of 2000 which collected detailed demographics on the types of tandems owned, purchase price, accessories, mile ridden, etc... If you 'd like to see his results, visit the SuDuBi Web site by clicking HERE. You may also recall that I conducted survey's in 2001 and 2002 which looked at different trends and solicited feedback on how I could better serve the tandem community's needs with our Web site. Unfortunately, not all of those results are still retrievable. I will in all likelihood launch another survey either later this winter or next year that will attempt to capture that information as it would appear "inquiring minds want to know". Thanks for taking time to visit. |
