3 all the saga's, Shuld I buy 26" or 700, What is the best tire, sti-Shimano or Campy Mark Livingood for always being objective, until he has to bitch someone out for being stupid the stoker is always right, that is until you are sitting around after a rally and the stokers have gone to bed and then you can really say what you want too.

5 I miss Larry's posts about his use of BMX parts on his ghost of a fixed gear tandem. I always read Livingood, Baird, Freides, McCready, Blalock, hell, just about all of the crowd that's been around a while. Noob's have to proved themselves worthy of my time!! Winter is bad for mental health... at least in parts other than Arizona!

9 What the folks that can't ride in the winter are doing in their spare time - in the Bay Area (the San Francisco one, that is) we just keep ridin'. Dick Powell. He is always rubbing it in about his house in France. What a guy! His lowest cost tip for reducing weight: lightweight tubes, especially if you need to buy tubes anyway - almost free. S and S couplers RULE!

11 The attachment that someone just attached in December, 2005, about the cartoon with the stoker sawing the bike in half. There really are too many stories to just remember more than one in particular. I only remember this one because it was recent history. Not necessarily in this order: Mark Livingood, Dave Whitmon, Pam Blalock and Sheldon Brown, That riding tandems, like half-bikes is a matter of personal preference and that there is no right or wrong bike; no right or wrong style of riding -- just that it is about having fun and meeting your own personal goals of exercise and pleasure.

15 Many years ago about light bulbs, where the constantly recurring themes on Hobbes morphed into a "How many Hobbesians does it take to change a light bulb" spoof --- Or something like that. Memory kind of sketchy. - Those that succinctly specifically point out the half truths unsupported and/or unsupportable items in Bill McCready's posts. - Technical comments on equipment. Some of the shared observations discoveries on equipment, training, attitude, etc. as they relate to 70 - 100+ mile fast club riding almost exactly match my own experiences and discoveries. I'm not alone!!!

29 Haven't really been on long enough to see anything really funny...but I do know there are quite a few characters on the list! Mark Livingood.
30 sometimes it gets quite boring and I drop out for a spell. The winter conversations are like last week's pizza. Sheldon Brown's are always worth reading. He's local, so I can stop in to see him, but just listing his name usually gets a response. I mentioned our Burley tandem had chainring spacing problems and someone at Burley caught wind of it and contacted me directly, arranging to have the local tandem shop swap it for a new one.
So, the manufacturers might get your message when posted here.

155 I never find the forum particularly funny. Although I do enjoy postings form Livingood and McCready. McCready - I think he has his tongue planted firmly in cheek (I do not care for his bikes, but he has done a lot for tandem riders); and Livingood, he has also done a lot for tandem riders that tandem riders need to get a better sense of humour, and not take postings so personally

I suppose it's a matter of getting a feel for what's in the tandem world outside our own experience, in equipment, rides, methods, etc.. There's also the matter, as on probably any forum, of coming to better understand how people think and react. I've learned a lot about people from it.

what other tandemists are thinking about many important topics
238 Bill at Santana; Sheldon Brown; Rudy Van; Piaw Na; I ignore those who consistently bash Bill or Santana. The important thing about tandeming is to get out and ride. Don't be concerned with the brand you ride, or how fast you ride or how far you ride ... just ride.
239 folks being sucked in by Bill @ Santana, who gets lots of air time because of it.
240 The "Hunting Roadies" thread, August 2003. Mark Johnson, Mark Livingood, Pamela Blalock, Michel Gagnon, Paul Meixner, and anyone else riding with their kids. Links to websites; ways to keep kids interested in cycling.

246 I checked the archives and that lightbulb post is hilarious and still is relevant today. David Burckhardt, David Whitmon, Bill McCready, Sheldon Brown, Rudy Van, Pia Naw Finding out that almost without exception tandemists you meet on rides are the nicest folks ever, but a few have a mean streak a mile wide when sitting behind the computer -- especially where Santana is concerned! Listen to everyone but draw your own conclusions.
247 The story that was based on "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". The story was titled The Legend of Marshall Canyon or the tale of the Captainless Stoker by Tom Shaddox. I don't remember the year. David Whitmon, Sheldon Brown, Mark Lingood, Dave Burckhard The stoker is always right.

258 Where do I begin? Team age, team weight,... Specifics don't come to mind, but it is funny because you have lived it or can see it happening with your own team. We are not alone, though we are the only local tandem team. Others are working through the same experiences. Often posts confirm our decisions and habits.
